Loved Ones Program - Launching April 2026

Training the Village That Supports the Birthing Person

An 8-session community program that equips partners, grandmothers, aunties, friends, and other loved ones with the skills to support pregnant and postpartum families in Mercer County.

At TruDoulas of NJ, we know birth doesn’t happen in isolation—it happens within families, friendships, and communities. Beginning in April 2026, the Loved Ones Program will offer free, community-centered education for the people who support expecting and postpartum parents-partners, grandmother, siblings, aunties, friends and more. Together, we’re building informed, loving support circles that help reduce stress, improve outcomes, and honor Black and Brown birthing experiences.

What Is the Loved Ones Program?

The Loved Ones Program is a multi-session training series designed just for the people who surround a pregnant or postpartum person—partners, co-parents, siblings, grandparents, best friends, church family, and more.

Through guided workshops, conversation, and hands-on practice, Loved Ones learn how to:

  • Offer emotional and physical comfort during pregnancy and labor
  • Support with postpartum healing and newborn care
  • Recognize red flags in maternal health and when to speak up
  • Advocate alongside the birthing person in medical settings
  • Create a home environment that feels safe, respected, and culturally honored

This program is rooted in TruDoulas of NJ’s mission to reduce infant and maternal mortality through education, advocacy, and community support, with a special focus on families in Mercer County.
